LEARN TO SKATE 2018-19


The program is run by Rink Manager and Director of Hockey Operations Sean Donohue and long time skating coach Amy Landino. They have partner to create a fun filled learning environment for all the skaters in the program.

The learn to skate programs at the Louis Astorino Arena prides itself on the quality of instruction that is done.  The staff consists of all professional skating coaches with over 100 years combined skating instrution.  Their knowledge combined with a positive atmosphere makes all skaters excited about being on the ice.  Whether you want to learn for recreation, hockey, or figure skating, the learn to skate program at the Louis Astorino Arena is second to none.

PROGRAMS

 

Snowplow Sam for Tots (Levels 1-4)

This program is open to toddlers from ages 3-5.  Level 1 is for children who have never skated before. Level 2 and 3 are for children with some experience. Level 4 is more advanced for those children not quite ready to matriculate into the Basic Skills track.  Each child will be placed in the appropriate level after his or her skills are evaluated by the Skating Director.





Basic Skills (Levels 1-6)

There are 6 levels in this program, and each skater will be placed in the appropriate level after his or her skills are evaluated by the Skating Director.

Hockey (1-4 & Power Skating)

There are 5 levels in this program, and each skater will be placed in the appropriate level after his or her skills are evaluated by the Skating Director. Requirments: Must have successfully completed Basic Snowplow Sam 3 or Basic 1.

Freestyle (Pre-Freeskate & 1-6)

Available for the more advanced skater after completing Basic 6. These levels will take longer to complete as all of the skills must be mastered before moving up to the next level.
